Cody Campbell
Cody is a hockey and skill development coach, is Power Edge Pro Certified (PEP), and has 8 years of experience helping players reach their full potential in hockey excellence. As Head Coach of the U15 Thompson River Blazers, he led his team to a second place finish in the BCEHL 2023/24 season. Cody excels in coaching puck handling and offensive skills to forwards and defencemen. He believes the ‘hockey mind’ is the most important tool to achieve elite hockey success. Cody specializes in coaching hockey IQ, on-ice awareness, and focuses on the details of the game. He coaches the ability to think fast and quickly respond in complex game situations to make the most effective and successful decisions. He maintains a positive learning environment to ensure players experience an encouraging and fun sport experience.
Cody grew up playing minor hockey in the Lower Mainland and in the BCHL for the Burnaby Express. This led to Cody earning a scholarship to NCAA Division 1 Hockey where he earned NCAA (CHA) All Rookie Team, NCAA (CHA) All Tournament Team, and NCAA (CHA) Champion. Following this he played nine years of professional hockey in the top leagues in France and Kazakhstan. In addition to his achievements in the NCAA, his career highlights include winning the French Cup Championship and Kazakhstan Cup Championship. Cody is the fourth all-time top scorer for Les Ducs D’Angers in France.
Cody began his hockey development career assisting with PH Development in his home town, Maple Ridge. In 2020, Cody began coaching at the North Shore Winter Club, an elite Hockey Club in North Vancouver. Upon moving with his family to Kamloops, Cody founded Cody Campbell Hockey in 2022.
Cody’s hockey career has enabled him to excel in a team environment. He is committed to encouraging long term camaraderie amongst his players. Cody has a passion for coaching hockey and enjoys seeing young players and families develop a similar love for the sport.
Elyse Marlo
Elyse is a Nationally Trained Professional Skate Canada Coach with 15 years’ experience coaching competitive figure skating. She has successfully coached many skaters to the highest achievable level of testing. On the surface, hockey and figure skating couldn’t be farther apart but many figure skating techniques can be applied to almost every single play in the NHL and are now imperative skills taught to players at a young age. Elyse is detail oriented and has a passion for teaching impeccable basic techniques with repetition and focus. She specifically excels in coaching edges and turns with precision, flow, and exceptional execution. She focuses on body alignment, balance, and stability which ultimately lead to increased power, speed, and flow while skating. Her detailed figure skating techniques take hockey skills to the next level.
Elyse began skating at the age of 5 and was a competitive figure skater in Freeskate, Dance, and Synchronized Skating, successfully winning BC Champion multiple years in a row, qualifying her to represent BC at the Winter Games, and Skate Canada Challenge. She was awarded a Karen Magnussen scholarship as the top BC skater in her age category. She also competed at a National level in Synchronized Skating as an adult. She successfully completed all of her Gold level tests, the highest achievable level in figure skating.
Elyse’s goal is to express her passion, share her knowledge, and bring the enjoyment of skating to children and youth.
Elyse has a BA from SFU with a double major in Psychology and Criminology.
